Husker Du in Philly on December 16, 1983

I fancy myself a bit of a historian for Philadelphia's music scene. I look for bands that I love and attempt to find their Philadelphia area performances. For instance, the legendary video for Panama by Van Halen was filmed at the Spectrum on the tour that supported the release of 1984. (The video has been featured many times on the site and easily viewable on YouTube)

I found a video from the legendary Husker Du that was filmed at Love Hall in Philadelphia. Love Hall was Philadelphia's premiere punk rock venue in the 1980s. It was located at the corner of Broad and South. I believe there is a garden on the current spot.

Husker Du performed "Something I Learned Today" at the punk establishment in 1983. The song comes off their album Zen Arcade, which was to be released the following year. Fans were treated to a new song off a LEGENDARY double album and I don't know if they realize how lucky they actually were.

As for me, where was I on December 16, 1983? I was a year old, probably learning how to crawl or some stupid shit like that. But I can tell you what I was not listening to...Husker Du because my parents were into blues and folk music.
