The Hives Sued by The Roofies

PhotobucketJason Shapiro of The Roofies has filed a plagiarism lawsuit against Swedish garage gods The Hives. Shapiro claims that our Swedish heroes knowingly stole the riff and vocal melody on 2007's "Tick Tick Boom" from "Why You," which he recorded in 1997 with The Roofies.

While the two songs sound identical, this could just be one of those bizzarro coincidences. Any hack guitar player/songwriter knows that it is possible for several people to unknowingly write the exact same song, especially when you share the same influences. Either way, Shapiro reached his decision after consulting the musicologist who is pictured to the right.

Could this be the first crack in the music plagiarism damn. Will we be forced to watch Old Dead Blues Musicians v. Led Zeppelin on Court TV? Will Jimmy Page be forced to track down the "real" plagiarists after his acquittal. Will I make another bad O.J. reference?

See for yourself below.
