AC/DC Black Ice World Tour: Dress Rehearsal - Wilkes Barre, PA

AC/DC 'Final Dress Rehearsal" Review!

Photobucket

This may not be the first review out there.....unforutnately this is how it really went down.

Thanks to our glorious connections in the record industry, young Vic Wettner and myself were the recipients of Special VIP passes to the 'Final Dress Rehearsal' for AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour. Until this past Monday everything about this show was very "black ops". We didn't know the location, departure time, departure location. We had no choice but to assume that we were being led into a trap by Van Morrison's legal team. This was a risk we had to take....for you!

The details were revealed and the show was held on October 26, 2008 at the Wachovia Arena in the fine city of Wilkes Barre, PA. This was a complete surprise to us as this is also to be the location of the first stop on AC/DC's World Tour.....go figure.

Oh, and by recipients of special VIP passes, I mean I used my innate skill of winning radio contests to score two passes from Philadelphia's 94 WYSP. This being revealed, me and young Victor met with the rest of the lucky winners at a park n ride just outside of Philly. I'd like to tell you that there was beer flowing and strippers dancing on this 2 hour 'Rock N Roll Train' ride. Sadly, I am a horrible liar.......we watched Iron Man and enjoyed Tasty Kakes, and Vic may or may not have rubbed himself raw looking at the free 2008 Eagles Cheerleader Calendar we recieved.

Now for the stuff you care about:

Armed only with a cell phone and mini compostition book BlogsNRoses.com presents this review of AC/DC's Final Dress Rehearsal.... **applause**

Security at the arena was non-existent. Everyone and their mother had a camera or some other form of recording device.....so if its pictures/video you want....google that shit. I'm here to paint the picture of what transpired.

With no opening act the band hit the stage at approximately 20:15. The lights went down and camera flashes began. The woman seated to our right was frantically deleting pictures of her children and elderly loved ones so she could digitally capture the awesomeness of the AC/DC Rock N Roll Train that literally....not figuritvely crashed onto the stage with flames billowing out of it. The woman on our left was sucking down chicken fingers with a side fried potatoes just as frantically......because she was hungry!

The band hit the stage and immediately cut into their new hit single and our buses' namesake 'Rock N Roll Train'. They sounded fantastic and the crowd was going nuts. For the next ~1 hour and 15 minutes AC/DC rocked our faces off. They played a lot of the hits....at least all the ones that get me hard. It also look like the band 'knocked over' a high-end supersized prop shop. The stage setup was ridiculous..... A massive locomotive with flames.......cannons for the encore, and the giant bell for Brian Johnson to swing on during the intro to 'Hells Bells'. The best prop was set loose during 'Whole Lotta Rosie'. A MASSIVE arena sized stripper shaped derigable was straddling the locomotive with uncanny stripper like movements throughout the song. The band also employed an ego ramp that extended over more than half the arena floor and was capped off by a hydrolically lifting pedestal for Angus to shred on! One Hell of a show!

I saw AC/DC for the 4th time at the palace of auburn hills wed. They still put on a kick ass show.this show is deffinately shorter than tours of the past but still long enough to make your ears bleed.I won't get into the set list as it seems pretty much locked in.One thing I noticed was the age of the crowd.people from 4 years old to 60 and everybody rockin out!AC/DC is still the best live band ever.
