When you are a rockstar who has nothing better to do and you are dating a hot tattoo artist who specializes in portrait tattoos, you have to take advantage of that. So Nikki Sixx decided to get the face of Mick Mars tattooed on his leg. Why would you want Mick Mars on your leg? I have no freaking clue. Nikki said this about the whole ordeal:
 
"[I] wanted to give you a heads up about this next episode of [the] 'L.A. Ink' [TV show] [which is set to air on] October 23 [on TLC; generally called The Learning Channel].

"Katherine [Kat Von D, star of 'L.A. Ink' and Nikki's current girlfriend] tattooed a killer portrait of Mick Mars [Motley Crue guitarist] on my leg and we got to surprise him with it at the Los Angeles Crüe Fest show. It was a pretty emotional roller coaster ride to share the whole experience with Katherine, from the beginning of the idea to the end when we finally show Mick.

"I had a fucking blast. Hope all you Crüeheads tune in and watch October 23."
