Slipknot Number 1 on Billboard Chart
Slipknot gets the dubious distinction of being Number one on the Billboard Top 200 chart, but ONLY after a recount.
The Game's LAX was pronounced the winner having sold 238,285 copies while Slipknot's All Hope Is Gone sold 238,272. Each record company asked for a recount and Soundscan (creators of Billboard's useless chart) obliged.
The new count left the Game in second with 238,382 and Slipknot with 239,516 copies.
You may be asking yourself, "Craig, what does this mean?" Nothing, it means jack shit. It is a metric that the record companies can use to market the next album. "Slipknot's last album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart." Somehow, somewhere that will sell one copy of the record to someone who doesn't know a thing about music.
I think it would be better to have the actual band members fight it out for supremacy. I think Slipknot could easy take "Da Game" since it would be nine against one. However, I will allow Da Game to have a gun. If he is truly "gangsta," he will be able to dispatch the nine members before they gang rape him.
This fight approach to the top spot in Billboard would have provided some comical entertainment when Kanye and 50 were jawing at each other a year back. If they didn't want to fight with their hands, I would have accepted oversized Sumo suits too.
