Sebastian Bach Sweetens Hershey, PA 08/08/08: Review and Setlist

Easing our way down the old Hershey Highway. we arrived at our destination....The Star Pavilion at Hershey Park in Central Pennsylvania. The sweetest place on Earth!!!

Our main event: Sebastian Bach.

If you blew off the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in China like us, then you must have been at this show.

Baz and boys roared onto the stage a few minutes after 7 pm and they hit their stride right out of the gate with their cover of Aerosmith's "Back in the Saddle". With the strike of the first chord from Metal Mike Chlasciak along with some kind words from Sebastian Bach himself, the crowd rose to their feet. The entire band had their hair flowing in the wind.....with the exception of the hairless yet kick ass guitarist Johnny Chromatic.

They played tracks from their well received "Angel Down" album and peppered in some of the classic hits from Bach's early days with Skid Row, such as "18 and Life" and "Youth Gone Wild".

Midway through their blazing set, a few sporadic raindrops began to fall from the gray clouds overhead and you could hear a gasp coming from Poison's C. C. DeVille in the backstage area....glam hair and rain...not a good combo. As if he ruled the skies in addition to the crowd, Baz proclaimed: "FUCK YOU RAIN!!".

With that, the last of the rain droplets fell and a brilliantly colored rainbow appeared over the left side of the stage. Quite Impressive.

The band continued to jam through the remainder of their set under blue skies and uncharacteristically fair weather for an August evening. These guys were just out there having a blast and they brought the screaming fans along for the ride. The sound was about as tight as the colorfully striped pants on bassist Rob De Luca and Metal Mike's snarling glares and the whaling riffs emanating from his Jackson guitar sent the women and children running for shelter. Bobby Jarzombek's drum beats and Rob's strumming of the fat strings, and young Johnny Chromatic were all well timed, holding down the rhythm section nicely.

Of course the icing on this ROCK N ROLL cake was the ever charismatic and overwhelming stage presence of Sebastian Bach. This man knows how to have a good time! His vocal range is just incredible.

This band truly was a tough act to follow.
