Judas Priest Metal Master Concert Review and Setlist in Camden New Jersey Aug 2008
I have been lucky enough to see Judas Priest a couple of time in my concert going career. They always put on a great show. However, last night at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey was a mixed show.
The set starts out with the eerie song that kicks off the latest record, Nostradamus entitled Dawn of Creation. The album cover art displayed behind the band, with Nostradamus' eyes cut out to reveal heavy red eyes that seem to follow your movement. K.K. and Glenn rip through Dawn of Creation, which seems to be a warm up for them. Dawn of Creation ends and a silver shrouded figure pops up on left side of the stage holding a Judas Priest scepter. Rob's voice sounds great on the kick ass song from Nostradamus, Prophecy. Why this wasn't a radio hit, I have no idea. He lumbers around the stage risers never revealing his face until the song is almost over.
These will be the only songs from Nostradamus the band plays. Rob moves back stage and takes off his silver, saran wrap robe and dawns his first metal coat of the evening. The band kicks into Metal Gods, which gets the crowd to erupt in cheers.
The band cycled through Eat Me Alive and pulled out Between the Hammer and the Anvil from the Painkiller album. This surprised me and the song sounded amazing because the band played this song a bit faster. The tempo was a bit quicker than the album and I loved it. Then they rolled into Devil's Child, which sounded great too.
The familiar chant "BREAKING THE WHAT?!" was screamed by Rob signaling their best known song Breaking the Law was about to be played. This is where I think Judas Priest starts to falter. The song had no emotion and it looked like they were running through the song just so they could get to a different one. I don't blame them, I have heard Breaking the Law live many times. I can imagine they are tired of playing it, but don't make it so obvious. The song is already short and they powered through it like the Ramones.
Breaking the Law lead into Hell Patrol, and the awesome Dissident Aggressor. Judas Priest then decided to slow things down with Angel. Angel was the soft side of Judas Priest this night, which was an ok change of pace because it lead to The Hellion/Electric Eye.
It seems that the songs Judas Priest has played many times before (Electric Eye, Breaking the Law, Hellbent for Leather, You've Got Another Thing Coming), they either spaced out or just seemed disinterested in playing. However, other songs they haven't played in a while (Between the Hammer and the Anvil, Dissident Aggressor, Rock Hard, Ride Free) they played with gusto and vigor. They were powering through and seemed to breathe new life into these songs.
The encore was the typical, Rob rides out on the Harley, sits on top of it and sings Hell Bent for Leather. The set concluded with The Green Manalishi and You've Got Another Thing Coming.
I would highly recommend seeing Judas Priest because they are doing deeper cuts this tour. They are rewarding their hardcore fans while still entertaining their first time fans. Besides, this tour is not to be missed.
Take a look at my review of the Heaven and Hell set to get my feelings on the venue and the Philly crowd in general. You can find it below or here, if this moved off the main page.

Hey! Here is a cool new way to experience music: http://www.mxp4.com/
I'm going to see this show in 2 days at Jones Beach, I'm syched, can't wait. I love the Judas, but Testament too! That's just awesome!
Who goes on first? I was hoping Motorhead so that gets out of the way, but I heard it's Testament.
The set times for each band were:
Testament - 5:30-6:15
Motorhead - 6:30-7:15
Heaven and Hell - 7:30-9:00
Judas Priest - 9:30-11:00
Enjoy the show!
Hey man, thanks a lot for the info. I went to Sunday's show at Jones Beach on Long Island. As usual, the Priest didn't disappoint, and they put on their Judas show, as only they can. I was a little pissed about Testament's show though, because they only played for about a half hour - if that. I'm assuming it was because it was raining on and off, and if ones bands time will be cut short, it would definitely be one of the opening acts such as them. Other than that, Judas didn't disappoint and put on a great Metal show, as only they can. Keep the Fairh, LATA.......
was seduce also there??/
