Lars Ulrich Talks About Robert Trujillo
Lars Ulrich had this to say about working with Robert Trujillo:
"It's difficult to praise Rob without insinuating that there was something not great about his predecessor, and I've got nothing but respect and love for [former METALLICA bassist] Jason [Newsted]," stated drummer Lars Ulrich. "But Rob, he's been with us five years now, and it's completely effortless. ... It's never felt this complete."
Kirk Hammett said this about Robert:
"Sometimes I look over at him, and he's playing his bass onstage, and it feels like he's always been there — his chemistry, his personality, it just all fits in really, really well," Hammett said. "He's a godsend."
I can't honestly comment on these quotes because I haven't heard anything Trujillo actually did with Metallica. All of St. Anger was written without his input, so Death Magnetic marks the first time Robert will be on the record in any contributing factor. He certainly is a kick ass bassist and an ugly man.
Now we are off to the Metal Masters tour with Testament, Motorhead, Judas Priest, and Heaven and Hell. Check back tomorrow when there will be a review and setlist of this awesome bill.
