Valient Thorr Melted Our Faces Off

PhotobucketMention Thor and I think god of thunder, Viking beard and fierce berserker breath. Now, mention Valient Thorr and I think the exact same thing but with red wrestling boots, lightning fast guitar solos and high volume madness.

The BnR team witnessed the majesty of Valient Thorr at Mojo Thirteen this Saturday along with The Montonix and Early Man. The opening act proved difficult to follow (unless you're GG Allin) but the boys in Valient Thorr played on, undaunted. They laced up their red suede wrastlin' boots, toggled their amplifiers from stun to kill and whipped the crowd into a Thorr frenzy.

From go, Valient Thorr was a fistful of high energy thrash metal delivered with mucho rapido riffs, those aforementioned lighting fast solos and a bit of a smirk. Indeed, they perfectly fused  speed metal, humor and sweaty rock n’ roll with the sweetest beards since ZZ Top renounced razors. Their frontman, Valient Himself, kept the animated crowd entertained between songs with a few philosophical anecdotes about sweat, red flags and hush puppies. The psycho fan up front led the crowd into ape-shit territory; especially on standout tracks like “No Holds Barred,” “Red Flag” and “Mask of Sanity.” The Thorriors protested the end of the show, chanting “more Thorr, more Thorr,” but all things must come to an end, even Valient Thorr shows. We retreated with a ringing in our ears and images of Vikings brandishing Les Pauls forever burned in our retinas.

Check out Valient Thorr on tour this September with Motorhead, you know what I'm talkin' about?!?!!...
