Ozzy Set for Variety Show...of Suck

Fox Network, not entirely known for it's award winning programs, has bought the rights to an Ozzy Osbourne Variety Show. It will be produced by the same company that produces American Idol.

Fox has purchased six shows that will most likely air in late winter or early spring (09) with American Idol. The show will kick off with a Christmas Special.

I forgave the Prince of Darkness for his MTV Reality show. I thought it was mildly humorous and gave us an inside look at the screwed up life of Ozzy Osbourne. I overlooked the fact 8 year old kids were in the pit with their grandfather at Ozzfest when Judas Priest headlined because of the MTV show. But I can't overlook a variety show featuring the Osbournes.

The media whoring of a metal icon has got to stop. I could understand if you want to keep Ozzy in the limelight of today's youth. But there are better ways to do it rather than rolling him out on sound studio and having him dressed up as Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs and Sharon as Clarice Starling in some cheeky variety show skit.

I mostly blame Sharon Osbourne and her incessant media whoring ways, but some blame has to lie on Ozzy. I know Sharon calls most, if not all of the shots, but if Ozzy refused to do it I am sure there wouldn't be a show.
