Support Your Local Interns Part I: I'm From Blogs N' Roses

Photobucket

Your new favorite rebel aces, Joe and Bob Wettner are applying for internships at Rolling Stone Magazine. This may be the dumbest idea since John Winger convinced Russell Ziskey to join the Army in Stripes. But hell, we love an underdog story.

We aim for the top at Blogs N' Roses so we only look half-retarded when we fall on our faces. And the zenith of this "industry" lies within that Manhattan lair of Jann Wenner, the leftist William Randolph Hearst of the 21st Century. We already do this blog crap everyday without pay,so might as well do it for the glamor and our old pal, Jann.

Now, before you assume that we have a whore’s prayer in hell of tasting victory, allow me remind you of the odds. Rolling Stone will select 12-18 interns from a pool of 600-750 applicants. Do we have what it takes to make the cut? Here are a few other factoids to put things into perspective. We have a better chance of getting accepted to Harvard, winning a Russian Roulette tournament in Bangkok and getting herpes from Paris Hilton in the back of a van. OK, maybe everyone has a decent chance of the last one.

This operation will be a two pronged assault. My application will be the “serious” effort since I need a real zinger on my POS resume. Fear not, my “serious” is a normal man’s “outlandish,” “buffoonish” and “way too honest and ballsy for human resources to handle.” I will also draft Bob’s cover letter and resume because he does not yet know the details of his important assignment. His will be the “completely ridiculous and disgusting” wild-card entry.

Bob’s cover letter will be posted once we know the “official” result. Since I enjoy a challenge, I will also attempt to get Bob to pay for postage.

If Erica Futterman somehow reads this, I would like to say that I deftly employed my html skills to save this post from destruction after some computer voodoo.
