Velvet Revolver Looking for a New Singer
Velvet Revolver are looking for a new lead singer. The band is taking their campaign online. Slash told Billboard.com,
"The band is actually talking about actually building a Web site [and] doing some auditions via that, so that's been something that's developing at this point," Slash explains, noting that it should be happening "in the next month or so."
This scares me. It feels like Rockstar: INXS or Rockstar:Supernova, or Journey. I love Velvet Revolver. I want them to continue, but finding a singer online will mostly net douchebags with a webcam who think they can sing. What happened to the old musician network where you place an ad in the local music newspaper? Has that died in the new century? What about the musician network, where I tell you I need a singer and you know someone, who knows someone, who knows a lead singer? Ah I guess if I can find my hookers on craigslist, I can find my musicians on there too.

I think the "musician network" gives them Sabastian Bach (too 80s) or Josh Todd (too busy with Buckcherry). Hey, why don't they get Axl Rose to fill in?

Looks like the search is over for Scott Weiland’s replacement. Jeffrey Light of Sanctuary Artist Management (Velvet Revolver’s high-power management team) announced earlier today that the lead singer of NYC based MEAN VENUS has already begun the process of taking over vocal duties. Known merely as “J”, Light says the MEAN VENUS front man has everything Weiland had and more. An accomplished songwriter in his own right, Velvet Revolver are excited to explore a somewhat new direction with the virtually unknown frontman.
i heard bernard edwards from minneapolis sleaze rocks sister morphine is being considered... anyone know if that's true? have they gotten a singer and are just holding off with the press for some reason?

i'd love to see this happen. always liked the sleazy attitude of the sister morphine boys and edwards was a real rock star in the rough... he's a bit lower for vocals but it would work and maybe change the direction to a little heavier style. like i said i think velvet is done. too bad though and lenny kravitz would not be a good choice i'm afraid.
just checked out sister morphine. his vocal style would be a great addition to vr.

not sure what's going on with them but after calling management and getting no real answers i think the band is done. and, i also heard edwards from sister morphine was supposed to audition as well as this j guy but i think the band is over. sebastian is an idiot and todd is too busy. velvet is dead.
I heard Todd cage from Charlotte NC was the guy. His demo on myspace with VR is amazing!
you gotta get edwards, his vocals are very unique and would compliment the bands style.
