Robert Plant turns down $200 Million to tour with Zeppelin

At the risk of pissing off Craig Wettner, I am going to report on a story from the U.K.'s Sunday Mirror that was released earlier.  Led Zeppelin reunion rumors (or rumours if you are a sworn servant of Her Majesty) are of no shortage.  It seems that every other week there is another potential tour featuring a revolving door of replacements for deceased drummer John Bonham (Jason Bonham, Dave Grohl, Lars Wettner, etc.).  The most recent rumour claims that lead singer Robert Plant has turned down a lucrative deal to tour with the band worth about $200 Million.

The source added, "He likes the idea of another chapter in the band — the grown-up tour. John Paul Jones, bassist sided with Jimmy. He loved making music with the others again. But Robert wanted to leave last year's concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough. He has other commitments and is happier looking forward to those. Robert put the mockers on the tour."

$200 Million!!  Give me a break.  I know they say that money can't buy happiness, but if I'm Robert Plant, I would be probably want to get it out of the way now when I'm still under 60.  Plant will be 60 this August, and as long as he is still alive, will be hounded by fans to reunite with Page, Jones and a drummer to be named later.  If their recent performance was any indication, they need to do this sooner rather than later.  I for one will be interested to see how Zeppelin fans rate on the "Bn'R Fan Ugliness Chart".  Here are the current rankings:

  • Kid Rock fans - 10 out of 10 on the ugliness meter
  • Van Halen fans - 9 out of 10 on the ugliness meter
  • Metallica fans - 9 out of 10 on the ugliness meter
  • Rolling Stones fans - 8 out of 10 on the ugliness meter
  • Led Zeppelin fans - projected 7 out of 10 on the ugliness meter

Perhaps he promised his best friend, John Bonham, that he would never do another full tour with Led Zeppelin san Bonzo.

Perhaps he is acting out of some chivalry and/or dedication to the memory of his late friend.

Nah, couldn't possibly be, he is a douchebag for not thinking about the fans.
