Mick Jagger, The Hells Angels, The BBC and Stuff I Already Knew
Our counterparts at the BBC share the same penchant for belated news that you have come to expect from this fine publication. Now the BBC is reporting that the Hells Angels Motorcycle club did indeed concoct a hair brained scheme to assassinate Mick Jagger in 1969. Jagger and the Angels had a falling out after the Altamont fiasco after the Hells Angels fatally stabbed a man. Mick blamed the Angels and the Angels blamed Mick, but as we all know, the Hells Angels always try to laugh last. The Hells Angels are quite fearsome on the road, in bars and generally anywhere on land where they can swing chains and terrorize unsuspecting civilians, but their seamanship leaves something to be desired. They tried to attack Jagger at sea, but like the Spanish Armada, they were foiled by a storm that threw all of the Angels overboard.
It has long been rumored that the Hells Angels plotted to kill Jagger, but the Angel's ill-fated sea-cruise has just been publicized. I guess our friends at the BBC never bothered to read this fine book by Robert Greenfield.

Greenfield followed the Stones on their '72 North American tour, their first trip back to America since 1969. There are numerous references of the Angel's desire to kill Mick Jagger. Its a good read, but if you've read The Dirt already, you will be disappointed.
Of course I'm going to conclude with a Youtube video, so here's the exact moment that every clichéd music journalist claims the 60's ended. (just skip to the 3:25 mark)
