A band that provided a launching pad of sorts for Tool is reforming and will head out on a national tour this summer. Green Jelly came out of Los Angeles in the early '90s as a combination of metal, punk, satire and performance art.

While the group was best known for its album Cereal Killer and cult hit "Three Little Pigs," it was also where future Tool drummer Danny Carey and singer Maynard James Keenan first met. Carey spent five years with the group and told MTV what he remembered most about it:

"At the time when I was playing with them, it was pretty rad. It was more of almost an X-rated vibe to it when we were just playing in clubs, you know, for older people. It was just controlled chaos in a lot of ways, and then once the record deal happened and stuff, you know, they were kind of freaking out on censorship issues and it turned into more of a kiddie vibe or something. It was an obvious choice for me to go with Tool at that point."

Green Jelly will play its first show on June 7th at the annual Milwaukee Metalfest. It's unlikely that either Carey or Keenan will show up. Keenan sang background vocals on "Three Little Pigs."

The band was originally called Green Jello, but was forced to change its name when the owners of the Jell-O trademark, Kraft Foods, threatened legal action.
