Deal with the Devil
MÖTLEY CRÜE has signed a multi-album, multi-tour deal with giant promoter Live Nation. For $100 million dollars (Dr. Evil laugh) Live Nation has bought the services of MÖTLEY CRÜE to produce three albums and three world tours.
Robin Leach, who apparently has a better blog entitled "Vegas Luxe Life with Robin Leach" reports the deal will run for 10 more years and include 169 concert dates. The first world tour will kick off this summer.
The first studio album by the CRÜE will be entitled "The Dirt" and will be based on the 2001 memoir of the band, or the BnR bible.
Nikki had this to say:
"10 songs done for the new CRÜE album so far, I'm very proud of the songs. I think we're onto some of the better songs we've had in years...Time will tell, of course. A couple of song titles on the CRÜE album are called 'A Scar On Hollywood Boulevard' and 'The Saints Of Los Angeles'... The chemistry in the studio as we're writing is unbelievable."
Anyone think this is a bad idea? Is a contract really going to keep Tommy Lee from quitting the band to work on his DJ crap? Will Mick Mars be dead in 10 years? After 10 years go by, are we going to be able to say, "We have three new CRÜE records and we are still waiting on Chinese Democracy"? I guess only time will tell, but if the Stones can do it, so can the CRÜE.
