Blogs N' Roses got an chance to sit on Santa's lap during our office holiday party on Saturday night and we learned some very important pieces of info that will have a big impact on the new year.

We also learned one other very interesting tidbit....Metallica may be touring all summer, and that is a possible time for the release of their new, highly anticipated ninth studio effort.  According to WMMR.com:

"Metallica continues to add dates to its spring and summer schedule, fueling speculation that the band's ninth studio album will be released around the same time. The quartet is now slated to headline the Netherlands' Pinkpop Festival on May 30th, and will also appear two days earlier on May 28th at Slaski Stadium in Chorzow, Poland. These shows join two previously announced German festival appearances in early June on the group's itinerary. There's no word yet on any North American tour plans or a release date for the new album."

This album is unique because Bob Rock is not producing.  Instead they will be working with Rick "Can't say No" Rubin.

I will personally not be expecting much out of it.  The simple act of producing the album will be an improvement over 2003's St. Anger, which was about as produced as the DVD outtakes from the Houston 500 gangbang video.
