Lennon's Statue DeGlassed

Grave robbers have been raping the memory of the dead for decades. Sure the Egyptian mummies were buried with priceless gold objects. And yes, Jim Morrison's grave stone was a bit pretentious, but did you have to steal John Lennon's glasses?

Lennon was shot in 1980 and was posthumously honored in Liverpool, England with a statue of his likeness placed at the city's John Lennon Airport in 2002. Yes, Liverpool is large enough for an Airport. Yes, the airport is named after a musician.

Sculptor Tom Murphy has criticized the theft, as the statue was damaged when the thief made off with the glasses.

"It's a real shame. They were attached to the statue which was damaged when they were taken off. We've put on a temporary pair and are getting a new pair recast soon."
