Punk Music Pioneer Found Beaten to Death
Report taken directly from WNBC.com.
"A punk music pioneer described as "broker of the stars" was beaten to death inside her Upper East Side apartment police said.
The victim, 62 year old Linda Stein, was discovered by her daughter in Stein's Fifth Avenue home on Tuesday. A small amount of blood was on Stein's body, police said.
The medical examiner said an autopsy found that she died from fatal blows to the head and neck. Stein was the ex-wife of Seymour Stein, former president of Sire Records, which was the launching pad for the Ramones, Talking Heads and Madonna. A former schoolteacher, she was also co-manager of the Ramones. She's credited with bringing the Ramones to England for their infamous July 4, 1976, show, which is often cited as the start of the punk movement in Britain. Recently she worked as a real estate broker at Prudential Douglas Elliman."
Granted the Ramones were destined to be stars and to conquer the Earth. And it could have been anyone that found them and brought them to merry-olde-England. But it was Linda Stein who did it. So now can be chaufferred by Dale Earnhardt, philophise with Socrates, while listening to Mozart play his Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major.
On second thought, she probably shouldn't ride with Dale Earnhardt since he likes to crash into walls and only make left turns.
R.I.P. Funny woman.
