Ozzy Fans have a Reason to be Paranoid

Paul D Laney
In Fargo, North Dakota, local authorities used the name of Ozzy Osbourne to set up a sting operation to catch local fugitives. Sheriff Paul D. Laney planned an Osbourne preshow concert party, offering the same perks in the rocker's official "VIP" tour package and mailed invites to 40 unsuspecting citizens under the alias "PDL Productions." Those cops are so clever.

Well when the duped criminals showed up to the "VIP" party, Laney promptly handcuffed and arrested them on outstanding warrants. The smug bastard then held a televised press conference to pat himself on the back on a "Job well done."

"Why did we do this? The criminals are creative, so we had to get creative too,'' Laney told ABCNEWS.com "They give us fake addresses, fake phone numbers, sometimes their families cover for them, sometimes their employees cover for them."

"We used drug money to lure criminals to justice. How poetic is that?"
he quipped. "We asked them to come to a preconcert party, just like those that are held at bars, taverns and what not before any event."

Ozzy Osbourne was not happy about the fact his name was used to lure in criminals.

"Instead of holding a press conference to pat himself on the back, Sheriff Laney should be apologizing to me for using my name in connection with these arrests," Osbourne said in a statement released by his publicist. "It's insulting to me and to my audience, and it shows how lazy this particular sheriff is when it comes to doing his job. It's obvious to me that this sheriff has an agenda and is just trying to make a name for himself on my back."

At BnR.com, we applaud the job police officers do to keep us safe. But sometimes police officers can just be real dicks. The use of a known celebrity to dupe criminals is a bit ludicrous. But to each their own.

This is EXTREMELY stupid. I do not appreciate the way you talk about this Sheriff. All he is doing is doing what he is supposed to do: catch criminals. I MOST OF ALL don't like the names given to talk about someone in authority. I know people may disagree, but calling someone a douche and bastard for just doing their job is unacceptable.
