Mediocrity is NOT a Victimless Crime

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPlaying the guitar makes me angry...it has for the last four months. You may wonder why I still bother to play the fucking thing, knowing that I will be infuriated. If I stop, I will have effectively given up on myself. Might as well hang myself out to dry with no possibility of anything but the mediocre 9-5 in a mediocre town. Sounds like a mediocre time... Now I'm not looking for any concrete results here. No groupies, gigs or free leopard print pants, I just need a little hope to cling to. Hope that there could be the possibility of groupies, gigs and those free pants. By losing interest in the guitar, I would have surrendered to the giant black hole of middle-class mediocrity that has gobbled up more people per capita than meth in the Midwest. I wish I was around more people who feel the same way. Nowadays its all marriages and mortgages...the minivans are coming later...pathetic.

Now to the Twisted Sister part of my rant...

To you young bucks out there...don't bitch out...its not very considerate to your few friends who aren't bitches. One should devote his life to morbid self-attention. Do not become a person like other people. An individual should never become their job...unless it's a really cool job. If your job doesn't instantly arouse members of the opposite sex, then you're fucked (figuratively.) Don't let your life devolve into a drab, real-life version of "Jack and Diane." I'm also not saying that you should fool yourself into thinking that you're sixteen forever, just strive to be something other than a flaming mediocrity...you are better than that. Its like the El Guapo concept in Three Amigos.
"each of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo!" OK, I guess El Guapo would be mediocrity in this case.

In conclusion...I'm almost a bitch, but I know this...and knowing is half the battle.

Don't you think for a second that I considered attaching the video of "Jack and Diane." I'm gonna end this one on a positive note, so you're getting "Shout at the Devil," live from the US Festival in '83. And I think we all know the devil at whom I shout.
