Break-up Sunday Part II: Trashlight Vision
The never fail Philadelphia Choke strikes again. Scientists still work around the clock to identify the mysterious force that plagues local sports teams, and more recently, bands formed in the Philadelphia region. First The Union Dead folded, then Silvertide disappeared, and now Trashlight Vision have gone belly-up. The band released their debut album, Alibis and Ammunition this July and immediately departed on a tour of the UK and Europe. I suppose the departure of mohawked drummer Len days before the album's release was the first sign on inner turmoil.
No official reason has been given for the split. The best we can unearth is head-honcho Acey Slade's myspace blog.
"It sounds petty to even say it, but a huge thanks is in order to everyone who has been behind the band.
As you can tell from my tour journals, I always keep the bad side of 'band world' behind closed doors. I always have. I consider myself an entertainer more then a 'musician'. I think to talk about down side of a band is like a magician who performs and illusion, then reveals that is was all slight of hand. Or winning the lottery and complaining about the taxes. So, while a lot of you may want to know the hows and whys of a band splitting up, I would prefer to let the band die with some dignity behind closed doors. All I can say is that nothing in life can sustain on self will.
It's the first time in maybe 10 years I'm not in a band and I'm feeling pretty hopeless as I type this. Thanks to everyone for everything.
I will find you. I can see in the dark.
Acey"
Hmm...I know what that feels like. In case you were wondering, that's Acey and The Mystery Machine, perhaps he opened the sliding door and unwittingly unleashed the Philly Choke on himself.
