Nirvana's Unplugged going to DVD
Billboard.com reports, that Nirvana's "MTV Unplugged" taping will be heading to DVD on November 20. The Unplugged performance was released on November 1, 1994, on CD, and it was the first Nirvana product to appear following Kurt Cobain's suicide that April. Note that it was the first, not only thing of Nirvana's to appear after the rocker offed himself.
I remember back when I was in 8th grade I had to write a creative story for English class. I wrote about travelling to New York City to see the Nirvana Unplugged performance. The teacher handed me the story back with tears in her eyes and said that the story moved her because she was a huge Nirvana fan and it was sad to see what happened to Kurt. I was playing with my "Self-Inflicting Gunshot Wound Kurt Cobain action figure."
Here comes the press release talk:
NIRVANA’s “Unplugged” date is arguably the most famous in the long-running series, as the band eschewed most of its hits in favor of lesser-known album tracks and obscure covers (particularly, three MEAT PEPPETS songs). The live version of “About a Girl” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock tally.
Here is the track listing for the "MTV Unplugged in New York"
01. About A Girl
02. Come As You Are
03. Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam
04. The Man Who Sold the World
05. Pennyroyal Tea
06. Dumb
07. Polly
08. On A Plain
09. Something in the Way
10. Plateau
11. Oh Me
12. Lake of Fire
13. All Apologies
14. Where Did You Sleep Last Night

That is Meat Puppets. I was actually writing the article while watching the Yankees lose. Damn Yankees.
