Before Rick there was Billy Ocean
Before Rick Astley blew up the charts with his mediocre style of music, there was Billy Ocean. He charted with this rip-off Lionel Richie song. The song isn't really a Lionel Richie song, but it sounds like it.
Suddenly - 1985:
Billy followed Suddenly with his first number one hit Caribbean Queen.
These songs pushed the world to new heights and he quickly capitalized on his new success by releasing his fifth album (second popular one) entitled Love Zone. The album contained the number one hit "There'll Be Sad Song (To Make You Cry)".
Billy's last chart topping album was "Tear These Walls Down." I choose to believe the album was about tearing the Berlin Wall down and not about disposable pop. Either way, the first single definitely had an Eastern Block feel. The song was called "Get Out of My Dreams and Into My Car." It would be the last time the world would hear from Billy Ocean and communist Russia.
I am throwing this Billy Ocean video on this blog, because it is just creepy as hell. The song is from the album Suddenly and did reach number one on the U.S. Dance chart and number one on the Wall of Freaking Weird.

I'm having odd flashbacks all the way back to 9-14-07. It seems like it was just yesterday and we were talking about Billy Ocean and Rick Astley songs being guilty pleasures. Weird.
