I was just at the U.S. Open over the weekend. The Open is the tennis Grand Slam, not the Golfing Open. The championships take place in Queens, New York, just a stones throw away from the eye sore that is Shea Stadium. The city of New York has started building the new Mets ballpark, but it won't be ready until 2009. Until then the cesspool that is Shea Stadium remains open.

How do can you appropriately close down such an awful ballpark? Here is an idea! Let's have Billy Joel do a few shows at the end of the 2008 baseball season, feed him enough booze, and have him plow into the support trestles! It is cheaper than dynamite.

That is exactly what Shea Stadium will do. Billy Joel will bring Shea to its knees with a limited run of dates to officially close Shit Stadium.
