Andy Rooney Sucks
This post has nothing to do with music unless there is some tiny violin playing a tiny concerto. This post has everything to do with how crotchety Andy Rooney has become.
I used to enjoy Rooney's satirical lists, when I was 13. Now I find his lists shallow and pedantic. Apparently I am not the only one. CBS took his two minute 60 Minute segment off the air for a brief period of time because he was no longer connecting with viewers. But if there is one thing you should learn in this world, it is that old people complain... A LOT!
They have nothing better to do as they approach the hour of their death than to complain and vote. CBS received enough letters to bring Andy back on Sunday nights. Sad.
Tonight, he had another list that he likes to go through and railroad for it's ridiculous nature. This list was about what American's buy. We buy 154k lbs of Starbucks coffee and 646 Toyota Camrys a day. Rooney complained about the coffee beans being overcooked and he had no idea what the hell a Camry was. Andy longed for the days when Ford was the American car and when Americans could be proud to driven by a Ford built by Americans.
Ford hasn't been popular since Andy last had a hearty bowel movement, and Chevy is a bowel movement. But let's take a look at where Toyota's current fleet vs America's current fleet are either assembled or made.
Toyota Camry - Georgetown, Kentucky
Toyota Corolla - Fremont, California (Best selling car in the world)
Toyota Highlander- Blue Springs, Mississippi
Toyota Tundra - Princeton, Indiana / San Antonio Texas
Ford Fusion - Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico
Ford Edge - Oakville, Ontario, Canada
Chevy Avalanche - Silao, Mexico
Chevy Camaro - Oshawa, Canada
Chevy Silverado - Silao, Mexico/Toluca, Mexico, Oshawa, Canada
Dodge Ram - Saltillo, Coahuilia, Mexico
Dodge Challenger - Brampton, Ontario, Canada
And those are the only cars I bothered to look up for the American Car companies because I got tired of being right. The American car companies are creating jobs for Canadians and Mexicans while the Japanese car company is creating jobs for Americans.
The cars are cheaper too. As an aside...I drive a 2002 BMW M roadster. While the engine and most of the parts are German, my car was assembled right here in the United States (Charleston, South Carolina). I promote German biasness by way of American workers. I am more American than you are, Andy Rooney!
Which was not the point of this blog...the point was Andy Rooney needs to join the rest of America in 2007. Toyota is America's best selling brand. Chevy and Ford are dead. Long live Honda and Toyota.

I'm with you man - American cars suck. I once had a Mercury Tracer - want to know what happened to it? I'll tell you - it caught fire in my driveway. Japanese and European all the way baby!
However, I should mention that there is one American car I could see myself in:

Not to trump the story above, but I had a Ford Pinto. I was actually rear-ended and the car blew up. I was burned on 30% of my body (mostly my face).
I sued Ford and won a huge settlement that I invested in creating a company called Broadcast.com. Now I am a billionaire. So I love/hate American cars.
