Rolling Stones Rock N' Roll Circus (Old Video Day)

The Rolling Stones, in 1968 were just hitting their stride. They filmed a television special in December 1968. It was filmed over two nights and contained lots of great performances. The idea was to have a rock concert inside a circus. So in between the acts, circus performers mesmerized the crowd.

The television special hasn't been seen by the public since it aired. Reportedly, the Stones hated their performance and delayed releasing it. Proof can be seen here. Keith could perform under the influence of drugs, but Mick came off over the top weird and Brian Jones was so out of it, he died the following year.

Overall, the show was fantastic. Tony Iommi, who had not formed Black Sabbath yet, filled in for Mick Abrahams. Mick left Jethro Tull over direction of the band. But the all-star mashup went to Kieth Richards on bass, Eric Clapton on guitar, Mitch Mitchell (the Jimi Hendrix experience) on drums, and John Lennon on vocals. The problem with this performance is the despondent Yoko Ono who caterwauls on stage in a plastic bag.
