Velvet Revolver gives new Metallica the seal of approval

It seems that not every other rock star is into bashing Metallica at all times. Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum has recently gone on the record with a very positive review of a portion of the new Metallica record, which isn't supposed to be released until early 2008. This isn't the first optimistic news from the recording front. Many of us are happy to hear that the days of St. Anger are long behind us.
Sorum had this to say:
"Lars (Ulrich, Metallica drummer) is a good friend of mine. He played me the demos from San Francisco, and I turned and looked at him and I said, 'Master that s*** and put it out.' It's ridiculous. The demos were sick. Eight-minute songs, all these tempo changes, crazy fast. It's like, 'Dude, don't get slower when you get older, but don't get faster!? How are you gonna play this live?'...They're cutting everything to tape, no f***in' ProTools — live, no clicks. Bitchin'. I dig it. I'm really excited for them."
In a related story, Velvet Revolver rhythm guitarist Dave Kushner wants to know why nobody recognizes the name Dave Kushner.
For those of you who haven't figured it out yet, the image to the left is the official Blogs N' Roses Metallica Fairy. The official Blogs N' Roses Metallica Fairy visits young children when they have heard their first Metallica single on the radio. It leaves a James Hetfield circa '83 mullet wig underneath their pillow, along with a special ITunes giftcard which is good to download 1 song. That song is of course "I Disappear" from the Mission Impossible II soundtrack.
