Trashlight Vision: Alibis and Ammunition
Leopard print is the new black. To those still coming to terms with this concept, witness the glorious clamor of Trashlight Vision’s Alibis and Ammunition, a sneering attack on everything mainstream and a damn good excuse for Acey Slade to play guitar in tight pants.
Sounding like the bastard sons of Blackie Lawless, Trashlight Vision make a cock-sure lunge through the gate with “Dead Waves on the Air.” From this point on the disc is a 42 minute blur of fast-as-hell solos, fierce drumming and kick-ass punk chanting, only pausing to allow for some strategically placed artillery fire and that hot ray-gun solo. Acey then shifts gears to the more punk sounding “Allergic to You” and then proceeds to mix genres like a messy kid with mashed potatoes and peas. Other highlights include the anti-love song “My Fuck You 2 U,” the Iggy Pop salute “Black Apples,” “Horns and Haloes,” and an on-the-money Ramones cover “My Head is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes to Bitburg.)”
For this, his third trip around the proverbial block, Acey has cast himself as front-man to a mohawked, tattooed group of miscreants also sporting tight pants. The resulting conglomeration of man, guitar, skins and larynx searing vocals is a delightfully ferocious yet melodic punk sound that packs a rock n’ roll swagger. TLV also give a few nods and winks to other genres like thrash, glam and sleaze metal. This fusion of styles keeps Alibis and Ammunition from sounding too hackneyed or pigeon-holed into one convenient cliché, like some other bands that shall not be mentioned in this tome.

Yep, I accidentally deleted Frank's comment because I'm an idiot. Frank, if you're out there put it back.
