Corgan raps about Pumpkins artwork and inspirations

In light of the first Smashing Pumpkins album in seven years being released tomorrow, I thought I would pass along some news about the band.

If you have seen the album cover for the Tarantula single, you will have notice Paris Hilton is on it.

The Smashing Pumpkins Tarantula

The photo has a low image resolution of a mushroom cloud in the background and the Zeitgeist album cover on the iPod. Corgan said he wanted the art to resemble propaganda. He generally stays away from politics saying "We don't play that game," Corgan did say that we are currently in a "really weird time." He was making a point about how politics are given equal or less coverage to Paris Hilton. That being said, he took the picture himself because he is friends with Paris. Mr. Kettle the Pot just called you Black.

The new track on Zeitgeist called "Bleeding the Orchid" is indirectly inspired by the death of Alice In Chains frontman Layne Staley. Corgan says about the track,

"Alice in Chains was a band that I didn't fully appreciate in the early '90's because we were all sort of competitors, and they were kind of more metal...and I wasn't man enough to appreciate them. [The song is about] what a lot of us have been through from the Gen X bands....Jimmy's a father now, Courtney [Love]'s on round 17 of drama...it was a bit of a cost assessment of a song about what it meant to sort of go through that."

As previously reported, the Smashing Pumpkins are doing a small fall tour. It will bring them back to smaller venues, so now is your chance to see 1/2 of the original lineup and a hot bassist.

I swear to christ, if anyone uses the pot/kettle reference again when getting all preachy about some "terrible hypocritical musicians," i'm gonna go Benoit. We look like a bunch of whiny, hypocrite tools whining about whiny hypocrite tools. Isn't it about time we pulled the dick out of our collective asses or just stopped crying about the pain of the giant dick in our asses?
