What The Fuck Happened To Silvertide?
After the triumphant album release party at the Trocadero in September of 2004, Silvertide blew out of town for a victory lap of America with an equipment trailer of free guitars, untold groupies and most importantly, a fuck-load of Clive Davis' greenbacks behind them. After their conquest of Philadelphia and this subsequent touring, the band took a well deserved break to record their sophomore effort. During said break, the band has been MIA, except for a cameo in an M. Night Shyamalan film and their announcement on myspace that their 2006 tour has been mysteriously canceled. "Some of you have asked about rumors of Silvertide canceling their upcoming tour. The rumors are TRUE. All future Silvertide tour dates are canceled and the band is going back into the studio to record their next record. The circumstances are odd and the story is long-winded but the bright side is that next time you see the band you'll hear all new stuff. We look forward to seeing everyone in the summer." And by summer, they meant summer '06, where they were also curiously absent.
Any updates on the band have been few and far between in the following months...,err..., YEAR. Like a desperate last message scrawled on a cabin wall in an abandoned town victimized by plague, Silvertide's myspace wishes everyone a happy holiday season. Even more depressing is the band's website (www.silvertidemusic.com), where their performance at Amsterjam in August of 2006 is the last record any action. According to WMMR in 2006, the band had recorded 25 demos in preparation for their new album. A little bird told me that this album was due out in December, but there are only 167 shopping days left 'till Christmas and Clive hasn't even greased the treads of the publicity machine yet.
So where is Silvertide? Are they helping Axl put the finishing touches on Chinese Democracy? Will they resurface just in time to look oddly out of date during the '90s retro craze that will hit in five years? Perhaps the lads from Silvertide have discovered some fissure in the space-time continuum which has transported them back to the halcyon days of the '70s. Either way I feel like a neurotic mother. "Walt, come home, I'm worried sick." Oh yeah, I forgot, "I ain't comin' home..."

Silvertide is a fly by night band. ANd the lead singer would have never made it without the guitarist. It sounded like he was screaming when he sang. The band would do great without the lead singer. Sorry but so true

I say BS to that comment. I was lucky enough to see them live and the they all contributed to the band equally. But I thought I was going to see a new band soar amongst a sea of "fly by nights" as you would call them. It's a shame they disappeared off the map, because they all were a real talent. Had high hopes for them. When I saw them in `05 (Singer leaping off speaker stacks, a real showman)in Las Vegas they were about to embark on a tour with Motley Crue. By no means were they a fly by night. Probably got screwed by a manager or some other big wig who took advantage of their good heartedness. I will never forget them. I have pictures with and autograghs from them. A great bunch of appreciative & down to earth kids. Hope to see them emerge again. LOL, might be another Boston scenario (10 years later we'll see them). FL
