Avril Lavigne - makin' copies
Many of the BnR readers have no idea who The Rubinoos are. When I read the story I thought they were ShopRite knock-off of Dunk-A-Roos. (Those who know what Dunk-A-Roos are, congrats)
The Rubinoos are suing Avril Lavigne for stealing their song. Tommy Dunbar claims Lavigne's hit song resembles his 1978 song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." Well, readers, you already see a similarity. Let's take a closer look.
Here is the Rubinoos song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." The YouTube creater feels that Avril is better to look at then Tommy Dunbar. I call it even.
In case you are too Rock N Roll to have heard Avril's song "Girlfriend" here it is: (It is not the official video because there is no reason for you to watch that trash)
In case, you can't figure out the similarities here is a mashup:
Lavigne's manager, Terry McBride told Billboard the suit "has no basis. There's nothing similar (between the two songs). Our musicologist says there is no similarities of melody, choral progression, or meter." You be the judge.
