Stars jeer Albert Gore's Live Earth
It is no secret to loyal readers of BnR.com, that we have no idea why the Live Earth concerts are being coordinated. Is it to raise money for the cause? Al Gore said no. So is it to raise awareness? Well the hot button issue has been slammed down our throats for the last couple of months. We are not the only ones confused by this, Roger Daltry, Neil Tennant, and Bob Geldof are also confused.Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys, had a highly critical remark on former U.S. Vice President Al Gore's flag raising attempt at raising awareness about climate change. Tennant claims that the whole idea is "flawed because of the environmental damage the shows will cause."
"I've always been against the idea of rock stars lecturing people as if they know something the rest of us don't - it looks arrogant," he explained "It's not as if they have a private source of information. To state the obvious as if you are the only person that knows it is intellectually weak."
Bob Geldof issued a similar remark a few days earlier.
"I hope they're a success. But why is he [Al Gore] actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem for years. We are all fucking conscious of global warming."
Roger Daltry had a better solution to the problem.
"My answer is to burn all the oil as fucking quick as possible and then the politicians will have to find a solution."
Before you support this cause, you really have to ask yourself, is this a cause I am supporting because the Police are playing or is it a cause I truly believe in it. Only you can answer that, but I am still suspect of the motives of Al Gore and Live Earth.
