A sign of the times
Peter Hook from New Order has confirmed they have parted ways. The bass player was doing an interview with UK radio and first hinted at the break up there. New Order are indie legends from the 1980's.In a sign of the times, the official announcement of the break up was posted on their MySpace site. Peter suggested that now is a time for everyone to "move on." He further writes:
"Well here we go again another action packed week. I suppose it was the interview with Clint Boon that started it all off. He'd asked me for a few words on Perry Farrell's Satellite Party single...so I went on and lo and behold mentioned the N.O split. So I suppose because it was me saying it, it was out at last. I'm relieved really. [I] hated carrying on as normal with an awful secret so let's move on shall we?"
He continued to elaborate on the break up with this little gem:
"Some kid came up and gave me a hug and said: 'Sorry to hear about New Order, Hooky.' I was really touched—it's like your budgie dying!"
For those uninformed a budgie is a parrot. Most people born past 1982 have no idea who this band is, but they have influenced many bands that we all love today. (The Killers for one) Sadly, this news is going to shock no one.
