Brad Delp's condition downgraded to dead
Brad Delp, who was the lead singer of 70's supergroup Boston, died on Friday at the ripe age of 55. He was found alone in his New Hampshire home. The state coroner, Dr. Clear Lee Obvious, characterized the death as untimely with no indication of foul play. However, the death remained under investigation by Atkinson, N.H. police. The groups eponymous debut album contained only eight songs, however, those eight songs are still in heavy rotation around the nation. "More than a Feeling," "Foreplay/Long Time," and "Rock and Roll Band" helped the album sell 17 million copies worldwide.
Tom Scholz was the mastermind behind the entire band, writing, arranging, and producing every album, it was Delp's tenor vocals that soared over the guitars and helped the band garner that cheesy pop crowd that Black Sabbath loathed.
"The few times I did meet him, he was very down-to-earth and seemed like a great guy, without any of the ego baggage. He had one incredible, amazing set of pipes. He is going to be sorely missed in (Boston) and the music-loving world." said Joe Perry from Aerosmith.
Boston was scheduling a summer tour and Delp recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend. Apparently, Mr. Delp still had a few lessons to learn about passing away before an ambitious summer concert. He need not look any further than John Entwistle, bassist of the Who, who died one day before the Who tour in 2002 of a heart attack induced by cocaine.
