Minutes to Midnight
Stinking Park has a new album coming out entitled "Minutes to Midnight." Mike Shinoda had this to say about the album:"We wrote in new ways, and used instruments and equipment we hadn't experimented with, from vintage guitars and amps to mellotron to Rick's original 808 drum machine he used on the Beastie Boys first record. We tried to question every step in our songwriting process."
Rick Rubin, producing genius, seems to agree:
"They really are reinventing themselves, it doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. It's very melodic...a progressive record."
Whenever someone comes out and says "It doesn't sound like rap-rock" guaranteed it sounds like rap-rock. Let's be honest though, a tiger can't change his stripes. This record is going to still sound like nu-metal/rap-rock because that is all they know how to write. Emo lyrics with crunching bass and turntable riffs. Look for more of the same from a lazy, mediocre band.
"2 Minutes to Midnight" was already taken by Iron Maiden, so these jerk-offs had to use "Minutes to Midnight." Their demographic won't notice the difference though. Their demographic thinks vintage guitars make you cooler. Just because you are using Marc Bolan's songwriting guitar, doesn't mean you will write "Bang A Gong II." Marc Bolan's corpse is still oozing way more awesomeness than this band ever will. VIVA MARC BOLAN!!!!
