Release Date set for Guns N' Roses?

"Libertad," the highly anticipated second album of Velvet Revolver, has been given a new tentative U.S. release date of Tuesday June 5. A posting at the website of Sony BMG Norway, listed a Europe street date of Monday June 4. Velvet Revolver is signed to RCA Records which is a subsidiary of Sony BMG.

This information has not been confirmed by representatives, but this much is known, the album will be out before "Chinese Democracy." Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum, or as we call them 'The most productive unit to come out of GNR' have been hard at work for almost a year on their sophomore album.

Frontman Scott Weiland told Launch that Velvet Revolver has become more cohesive as a band on "Libertad" after touring for 18 months in support of its 2004 debut, "Contraband." "You know, on the first album, we hadn't played together very much," he said. "You know, we really didn't know each other as a band. And after touring pretty solidly for a year and a half, you get to know what your musical identity is. And so on this record, I think we've really sort of defined what our musical identity is, you know, at least up to this point."

To give a big "Fuck You" to Scott Weiland, Axl canceled his remaining tour dates to move into the studio to finish mixing "Chinese Democracy." He was heard mumbling "Damn those kids! I will show them extensive touring doesn't make a band, ProTools does."
